Mora Thavmata

At Kawacom’s Ipanema Espresso, we consistently contribute value to society through Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives. As you may already know, we have supported various non-profit organizations by providing products from our chain on a monthly basis.

For 2023, we have decided to take a more collective action that will have a strong impact on society, actively involving all Kawacom’s Ipanema Espresso stores in the initiative.

As part of this, we have orally agreed with the charitable association “Mora Thavmata” to donate a guaranteed amount of over 10,000 euros towards the purchase of equipment for premature babies at Makarios Hospital. This is a significant contribution, as Cyprus has the highest percentage of premature babies in Europe at 11.1%.

For this purpose, the coffee supplier P & Th Just Roasted will also cover the expenses of 4-5 events organized by Mora Thavmata, offering coffee and donating the total proceeds to the association.

The contribution of the chain’s stores to this effort will be promoted through press releases and social media activities both on central and local brand communication platforms. At the same time, the stores of the chain will have “Mora Thavmata” signs that will certify the collaboration, while promotion will also be made through the channels of the foundation.

The Mora Thavmata Association is a non-governmental charitable organization and a member of the European Foundation for the Care of Newborn Infants (EFCNI). It was founded in early 2015 by Ms. Stella Kyriakidou and a small group of parents, grandparents, friends who experienced prematurity. The organization’s scientific advisor is Dr. Christina Karaolis, former Director of the Neonatal Unit at Makarios Hospital and a Professor of Neonatology at the University of Nicosia.

Additionally, the Association maintains a close relationship and collaboration with the Ministry of Health, the Cyprus National Committee on Obstetrics and Gynecology (OKYPY), and the medical and nursing staff of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).

Today, we make a promise to every premature baby, to every miracle baby: to make their world a better place!
